Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing which is helpful for many physical and emotional conditions. The word Reiki is translated as "universal (or sacred) life force" and is channeled through the practitioner to the client as the practitioner lays their hands on 14 different positions on (or just above) the client's body.
Reiki does not require any specific religious belief. In traditional Chinese medicine, Chi (ki in Japanese) is the life force energy which exists within and around all of us. If this energy is stuck, exhausted or excessive, health suffers. The Reiki energy is seen as coming from a higher power, God, or Spirit, and will go within the client's body and work where it is most needed.
Reiki clients report feeling deeply relaxed, spiritually connected and warm. They use words like "profound" and "amazing" and seek this treatment for various reasons including stress relief, anxiety, grief, migraine relief and support for healing after surgery. Reiki is also an effective healing tool when the client is contraindicated for massage therapy or other bodywork modalities.
Unless this service is added to a massage, clients remain clothed while receiving a Reiki treatment.
